The Rage Rag
Edition 004
Welcome to the Rage Rag, where we share expressions of anger, exasperation, frustration, and justifiable rage from the women of the world. Consider a paid subscription to support our momentum in building a platform for the female voice to yell, shriek, snarl, and roar so that our words may land like seeds on fertile soil in the ears and minds of all of mankind.
Here we host an anthology of the lived experience of women in 2025, a living history to expose truth and audit existing societal narratives of what it means to be a woman.
I don’t want to repeat verbatim from our last Rage Rag, but once again, it’s been a couple of weeks of the intentional, by design, firehose of nonstop terrible news. For just one example, women in SC are being reduced to lower than breeding cattle as they are seeing every shred of their rights and autonomy stripped from them (SC legislators want to wipe the very definition and mention of rape from any legislation concerning abortion):
… ICE agents slam multiple women to the ground in a new escalation of violence, no longer fearing the ever-present cameras and live social media feeds as they enact violence on women protesting or asking questions about their husband’s status after he was snatched by ICE.
RFK Jr. and Trump are taking aim at mifepristone, the “abortion pill”, which has been found safe for use for years, to remove this option from women, sparking a national discussion on whether or not we are moving towards a federal ban on abortion and then subsequently contraceptive birth control access.
I’ve found a couple of pieces this week that I think you should all read. They’re definitely more essay, less “rant”, but the content is.. ***chef’s kiss***.
If you wanna keep getting this delightful rag in your inbox, you know what to do!
Susan Pickard shares stories of sweet, strong relationships with fellow girls and women as she gained growing awareness of the patriarchy and what it has taken from her and her dear friends. It’s thorough, it’s devastatingly descriptive, and it’s insanely well written
If you remember from the last Rage Rag, I mentioned the uprising of far-right ultra-feminine content creators on social media glamorizing the “trad-wife” life, and the grooming portion of that content aimed squarely at teenage and college-aged girls: the “soft girl” life. Tia Glista wrote a thorough examination of this trend; the kind of essay I love, with tons of citations and well-reasoned theory. We love a brilliant woman!
You guys make sure to visit Susan Pickard and Tia Glista and subscribe! Paid subscriptions are a bonus! Take that money we are intentionally withholding from massive media conglomerates and give it to living, breathing women doing the work of writing full, thoughtful essays.
Shoot me a message if you’d like to share your work, but remember, ladies only! Better yet, tag your favorite feisty female writer here and encourage them to submit a rant!
Thanks for reading… come back for more!
